Narrative Journalism

Our Narrative Journalism Conference was borne out of the need to provide training for senior reporters seeking to cover complex South African stories. Since the first conference in 2005, it has now expanded to include other African journalists and a perspective on the continent. It aims to provide a forum for debate, exchange of ideas and practical training in the craft of writing narrative stories.

If journalism by its inherent nature is about telling the story of our times, narrative journalism is then the practice of telling that story in an interesting and creative manner that is engaging and relevant to the reader.
